Franco-German
Alliance
The latest issues of the
French and the German are now out. Champs-Elysées
23-03 has already shipped and Schau ins Land 19-01
will ship shortly.
Schau ins Land Issue Contents The
latest issue of Schau
ins Land ranges far and wide over the German-speaking
world. There's a feature on the migration of German workers to
Austria, and an inside look at life in the Principality of
Liechtenstein. Other highlights this month include an
interview with one of Germany's most glamorous and versatile
actresses, Heike Makatsch, and we also take a look at a
subject dear to German language learners, the publication of
the 24th Edition of the new Rechtschreib-Duden dictionary.
Schau ins Land 19-01 should be with you any day now.

Schau ins Land Update
Schau ins Land 19-01 is the
first issue on the new bi-monthly frequency. Issue 19-02 will
follow in two months' time. In addition, by popular request,
Schau ins Land 19-01 is the first issue to feature
separate, optional audio
flashcards. The idea of the audio flashcards is that about
100 words and phrases are culled from each program and
recorded on a separate CD with their English translations.
After all the words have been presented, we run through them
again, this time giving the English translation first, so you
can test how well you've learned each term. They're an easy
and convenient tool for building vocabulary and refining
pronunciation, so add them to your subscription if you haven't
already! Don't forget, audio flashcards are also available for
Puerta del Sol and Acquerello
italiano.
Champs-Elysées Issue
Contents The main interview in Issue 23-03 will
have you on the edge of your seat! Evelyne Pagès meets Rémy
Julienne, one of the world's greatest film stunt men. He talks
of the thrills and spills of some of the notable films on
which he has worked, including the secrets behind the
high-energy car chase sequence in the Da Vinci Code. Tracking
the equally fast moving world of French politics, in this
issue we present a portrait of Ségolène Royal, a rising
contender in the race for the presidential elections next
year. Other highlights of 23-03 include a feature on the new
Musée du Quai Branly which is rapidly becoming a must-see for
visitors to Paris. For foodies, we have an atmospheric feature
on the cuisine of Marseille, while for book-lovers there are
reviews of the life of l’académicien Jean-François
Revel and the book of la rentrée, Franz et Clara by
Philippe Labro. If your subscription has lapsed, or if you
